Week 31

Whagwan me youts?!

Everything here in Jamaica is just fantastic! this week we had 3 baptisms! the Campbell family had all of their children baptized on Saturday with the youngest also being confirmed while the other 2 were confirmed on Sunday!  man was the spirit there during those!

Monday 3-24-14

Today was kinda a crazy day. Elder Christensen was having his last Pday here before moving over to MoBay so we kinda ran around town doing some errands for him. also, my camera ended up breaking. man did that really tick me off. instead of having someone down here fix it, i just went over to Courts and got a new one. its super nice. so i will finally be able to send some photos haha. but there really wasnt much done today. i did cut down on my shopping tho. it was only like $5000 this week haha. i always run out of food before the end of the week so i need to probably spend a bit more haha. i dont know what to do but we'll see what happens. we also went over to the McCalla family tonight. we started out sharing the story of Lehonti, and then JD went missionary mode on us haha. all of the sudden we got into some really deep doctrine. most of the time we got there now we just sit and listen to him. its hard to believe that he is only a convert of 2 years of so. he knows more info on doctrine than most members of the church do!

Tuesday 3-25-14

we had a really good day today. first off, i got my other bike back. it had been broken for a bit and another elder said that he would fix it up a bit. well he patched up the tube to it and then swapped bikes again. the only thing left to do with it was get some new brakes so we did that in the morning. im pretty excited to use it again :) we had a good lesson with Raheem too, a new investigator. we taught him a little about the Godhead. after the lesson he said that he felt really good inside. he is a really awesome guy and it just shows that he is really prepared to have the gospel in his life. the good thing also.... ITS A MALE THAT CAN HOLD THE PRIESTHOOD!!!!! that is one thing that we stress on cause the stake here soon is gonna need all the priesthood that it can get! later in the night we went over to the Campbells house. we showed them some stuff for the baptism on Saturday. we showed them the words to say, how to hold the person, and stuff like that. they are really excited to be baptized! even brother campbell, the dad, is super excited haha!

Wednesday 3-26-14

to start off the day we got an interesting call from the APs. they told us that they had received some late revelation on transfers. we were kinda worried that elder norman was being emergency transferred at that point haha. but thats not the case. they are splitting our district. it used to be all of spanish town was a missionary district but now branch 1 is one district and branch 2 is another. the APs called us to tell us that Elder Norman is now the district leader! we kinda had a good laugh about that one. all you who are in leadership possessions on a mission or were when you served, im sure you understand :) then we went up to the transfer meeting to say goodbye to a few missionaries who were going home. i got a few ties out of that one haha. while we were riding back tho, my tire got flat. that really really really really ticked me off. the same tire had already gone flat before we reached the church and i had to get a brand new tube for it. well the 2nd time the valve stem was ripped so i couldnt patch it. i just kinda threw my bike to the side haha. i dont like bikes too much now. im gonna try to convince Pres that i need a car where ever i go haha. so we are going to be walking again for the next week or so. just till i can get my bike fixed. but once again, I HATE WALKING! by the end of the day i was just super tired. whenever we walk the whole day i am just ready for bed before we even get home. the good part of the day is when we stopped by a less active members house, and she fed us. that really brightened up the day. we were not expecting it at all! she does have some really interesting beliefs tho. its really obvious that she has not been to church in a really long time.

Thursday 3-27-14

today really ticked me off. we had a total of one lesson today. we were walking from 2pm-5pm with no one seeing us. we had one person see us right at 5. a less active member who doesnt really want to come to church to bad. i think that we walked close to 6 miles straight! we had a small lesson with another member but she really didnt want to see us. it was more of a "i will let you in to be nice" thing. we also chopped yard in the morning so it made us even more tired. we did go to the campbells tho. that was a big highlight of the day. the zone leaders did the baptismal interviews for 2 of the children tonight. both of them passed. the other child has to be interviewed by a member of the branch presidency cause he is only 8 years old. that is going to happen on saturday. but that really was our entire day. it was just us walking around for the whole day. my feet were really killing me.......

Friday 3-28-14

so today we walked again. this time it was only for 2 hours that we didnt see anyone. and by far not as many miles on my shoes. i may be putting more miles on my shoes in these 2 years than i have on my car at home right now haha! there was a lesson that was super inspired that we go to tho. we went over to a family to see how everything was. the family has a returned missionary that is less active right now. we simply asked how he was and we had his mom tell us that he is going through a really rough time right now and that it is scaring her. we are going to do the very best we can to help. she doesnt want anything really brought up to him about it so we'll have to try to figure out the problem within the problem. its gonna be pretty fun haha. we also went to the campbells tonight and talked about the temple. they really enjoyed it. i kinda forgot that there are terms that LDS people know and always use that others dont know. i used them in the conversation. dont worry tho, it wasnt anything against a covenant or something haha. they had some really good questions about everything and we told them what we could haha. they are a fantastic family and i cant wait to see the next 10 years has in store for them!

Saturday 3-29-14

The Campbell children were baptized today! man was that a super spiritual experience! they have really come a long ways. when i first got here, only one wanted to be baptized and the other 2 were super shy. by the end they all were talking all the time and they are all baptized now! i wouldnt trade that for anything! this gospel is true and no one can convince me otherwise!! once the 3 kids went into the water, the spirit flooded the room like you would not believe! i never feel the spirit more than when someone fully repents of everything and partakes of the waters of baptism! you can just feel that it is the right path that they are taking and you love that they have made the right choice in their life! but after that we hung out with the office elders for lunch. elder henderson is now an office elder and he is the one that had the childrens parents be baptized so thats why they were in Spanish Town. we went to lunch and just kinda talked for a bit. after that me and elder norman did more walking haha. this time we didnt walk for so long with nothing to do. we had some people that we havent seen for a bit ready to go to today haha. at the end fo the day we had a lesson with Antoinette. we talked about faith. she understood it all and was even laughing with us on some things before the lesson. we invited her to church and she said that she would try to come next week cause she had some other things to do tomorrow. but its a step. she has a desire to come. it was a little hard to see people today cause CHAMPS was going on. thats the high school track finals for the island. its a really big thing. apparently they broke close to 30 records this year in it. people love their CHAMPS haha.

Sunday 3-30-14

today was pretty good. the chapel at church was full today and that is always a good thing. we confirmed the 2 older campbell children as well. the youngest was confirmed on saturday with him being 8 and all. we were expecting to go teaching with another member today, but they kinda blew out so that they could go and support a friend through a hard time. cant say that i blame them haha. we also went back to sister blake today, the less active who fed us earlier. she fed us again haha. she didnt come to church tho. we will work on having her do both haha. we shared a lesson on faith with her. the best i can say is that she said thanks for the lesson. she did feel the spirit tho. we just need to work on having those beliefs of hers be in harmony with the church. not the other one..... we also went back to the campbell family. ya we really did see them a lot this week. but its a good thing haha. we talked to them about the concept of Revelation. it was a super good discussion. we ended with the 10 year old girl asking why women couldnt have the priesthood. we are going to go back on friday and explain the role of womenhood by reading the talk by elder christofferson from last conference.

so thats my week. and speaking of conference, im super stoked for conference next week! i hope that you all will watch it! its always a great thing to hear the prophet and apostles of today speak to us and i have really grown a major love for it! never in my life will i miss another conference!!!!!

Week 30

Hey everyone!

this week was pretty eventful. we were cussed out when we went out to eat to name one thing. its not as funny writing it out so i will have my family record it when i call on mothers day and then post it somewhere. its pretty funny. you almost had to be there to believe it haha! i will try my best to explain it but most of the funny parts will be when i tell it in person. NEVER LET ME FORGET ABOUT IT GUYS!!!

Monday 3-17-14

Well first off happy st. patricks day! i did wear green today incase anyone was wanting to save up some pinches haha. not this time :) today we went over to Kingston for a bit. Elder Odendahl is finishing up his mission next week and he wanted to get some souvenirs before he left. i got a couple of jerseys, of course haha, while i was there. today was super long with everything tho. with email and normal mail, we did start shopping until like 4:30 or so. i had no time to really relax darn it! one day i will have that tho haha. the lessons that we had today were pretty good tho. we started off an Kayanns house. the lesson kinda jumped around but it went really well. it was an assignment from the branch council to go there today so we got right on it haha. we also went over to Nakeithas. there were a lot of distractions around there but the lesson was really good. we watched the new Mormon message "stop it". its way long but its so good! i so wish that i could just watch it everyday haha!

Tuesday 3-18-14

Today was just super fantastic! we had zone conference today here in Spanish Town so president Brown THREW DOWN on how we could be better. i felt so rebuked but also so loved, as always, haha. he talked about how we cannot teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ (lesson 3 in PMG) in just one lesson. we have to teach about faith, build their faith, and see them using faith before we can go onto repentance. and then we do the same thing with repentance and baptism. he said that it should get the retention up a lot if we teach like this. right now Jamaica has a 60% retention so that needs to improve a lot! after zone conference tho i was pretty tired. we went over to a cook shop that we always go to and just ate it up! we also talked to elder Henderson, my mtc comp, for a bit too. he came over for zone conference too. everything just kinda slowed down after that tho. We only had one lesson for he rest of the day. the good news is that we found a new less active member when we went over to the Cardoza's. we had no idea that the kid was even a member. we have seen him around all the time when we go over to Kayann's house. we'll have to try and get a lesson in with him sometime soon.

Wednesday 3-19-14

so Today was a really good day in my mind. we kinda got fed a lot today :) that made me super happy. we stopped off at Sister Baldeo's house and she asked us right as we were about to go if we wanted some dinner. there is no way we were gonna turn that down haha. it was just some rice and spaghetti type thing. super good tho. then later in the night the McCalla family fed us. well sorta. it was more that the kids went and got a lot of junk food and gave us a big bowl of it. it was way good tho! i was way surprised that they went through that much to get it for us tho. they are by far my favorite family of all time down here!  of course we shared a thought with them and then had to go. but earlier in the day we also sat and talked with sister Dacosta. she is way old so she has a lot of stories to tell. we sat there for like 40 minutes just asking her questions and listening. it was pretty nice haha. we also had a good lesson with Christinea. we were all working on patience for the week so we followed up on that for us all. we all did pretty good i would say. Christinea made a good point that the devil usually will start to test us in things that we begin to work on. that is the point we are weak at and he wants to keep us weak in that aspect of life. how true that is haha. the lesson kinda then took a turn onto faith. so this week we are all going to be working on our faith in things. im actually really excited for that one haha.

Thursday 3-20-14

yes this is what i was waiting for. the day that we got cussed out! it may sound scary but it was the best moment of the day by far. so we were sitting in pizza hut, basically about to leave, when this random rasta guy comes over and just sits next to me. so already super weird. a random person just sits in our booth. first thing he says to us is "whats wrong with the African?" cause elder norman was sleeping a little bit on the booth. he then goes on later trying to explain to us that Jesus Christ is our earthly mother and father. and also that everything in books is false. only the "elements", physical, mental, and spiritual i guess, are the only things that tell us true things. elder beck did most of the talking with this guy just to add. he made a lot of funny comments to him. such as saying that the conversation was not logical, and that the guy was not clever, which is very true haha. the guy then said that the bible was not true. of all things haha. when we told him he said that, he then denied it. when we asked him if the bible was true then he said "nope!". that guys was just way funny and "not clever" haha. again, it will be funnier when i explain it in person. be sure to record it in a month family :D. after that we talked to Nicole. she is way prepared but she just doesnt know it haha. she did tell us that she is only going to go with whatever Gary decides. so we will put a bit more of a focus on him now. she is also in training to be a prophetess at her church. i think that teaching her about prophets is gonna be kinda fun haha. we also went over to the Campbells today. it was mostly just so that we could go over the lessons  again with 2 of the children. they are really ready to be baptized. im so sad that it has to be next week. i want it to be this saturday haha. oh well tho. that is the day that they decided to do so im good with it haha.

Friday 3-21-14

today was a pretty good day. the first lesson we had was with someone new. his name is Okeara. we thought that he was in like his 20s or at least 18. we only really talked to his dad just a few hours before. we get there and find out that he is only 15. plus he is super shy. he really didnt say much during the lesson. its gonna be tough to go back there to be honest. not much room for progression right now. but we will see what happens. the next lesson we had was with the Davis family. this time Sister Simpson came with us. she lives pretty close to them and she was never aware of them. cant blame her for it. their records have never been moved from the Old Harbour branch. we'll work on that tho. the lesson was really good. we just went over the restoration. sister simpson was going to leave but she stayed for the whole thing instead. she is a way big help with that family. we went over to the campbells again today too. i just really love that family. every time i go there i learn so much and i get a great laugh from it! its gonna be a really sad day when i will have to leave this place one day!

Saturday 3-22-14

man today started out super good! our morning, which normally suck, was perfect! we saw all the people that we planned to see! first we went and saw a new less active person that we found on the branch directory. she said that she cant come to church on sunday but she would be there the next week. we didnt know her so the lesson was just plainly to get to know her. we then went over to another less actives house. we brought over Sherefah and Kadejah McCalla cause they are about the same age as Chris, the person we went to see. i was surprised at how good they are at missionary work for their age. they were really into the lesson and gave some great points! hopefully they decided to serve one day. after that our day was really slow. it rained super hard so we had to take shelter for like 40 minutes. no one likes to see anyone in the rain haha. but our last appointment was with the campbells again. as always, the lesson was super awesome! they are funny and everyone learns so much!

Sunday 3-23-14

we only had one lesson today but it was super awesome! it was with the campbells. we had no idea why brother campbell wanted another lesson. but because it was the campbells, we agreed to do it last night. we go over there and have plans to go over the interview questions with their 2 youngest kids, who are the ones planning to be baptized this saturday. we were about halfway done with the questions when the oldest kid starts to whisper something into her sisters ear. well the younger sister then blurts out that she is just nervous to say that she wants to be baptized! it was one of the greatest moments ever! she wants to get baptized with her siblings on saturday! so we asked her all of the questions. she knows them all and her testimony is super strong! we told her that there was no problem at all with her being baptized this saturday! so this week instead of having only one investigator baptized, the other child is 8 so not really an investigator, we are going to have 2! i love the gospel and i can so see that everyone else does too!

So thats my week. i really loved this week with all of my heart. it felt long but at the same time it feels way short too! i cant wait to see what happens in the future here!

Week 29

Coo Deh Im here! Whagwan?!

this week has been super cool! we found a new family to teach that is right by where we live and they fed us an american meal! so good! but onto the week......

Monday 3-10-14
Today for Pday we went out to Old Harbour and played basketball with the elders out there. we also had Maypen come over. there were like 20 missionaries there playing Basketball or Soccer! i found out one thing while i was playing.... i really suck at basketball now. looks like Keaden may be able to beat me when i get back home haha. i also made a goal that i was not going to spend so much on food this week. well.... that didnt work. i spent $7000 on food again. this week i defiantly am not going to spend that much. i will look at my expenses now haha. but my bike had some more problems. i got a flat tire again. so i rode like 2.5km from one part of our area, on a busy road with a lot of cars, with a flat tire, in the dark. back to the house. man did that hurt. luckily i was able to get the thing fixed. we have a tradeoff tomorrow and i really dont wanna walk around for it.

Tuesday 3-11-14
so weird story of the day. during our personal study time this morning, a dog was killing a chicken. like it was biting it so much that it was freaking out and then just went all relaxed and quite. it was kinda cool to see haha. it was right in our backyard to so up close and personal i guess haha. we also had our tradeoff today so i was with Elder Matthews. he is from Idaho. during the day we had a lesson with some Jehovah Witnesses. and i mean a lesson! they usually dont like us talking to them down here so we never have lessons with them. but they were sitting at a members house when we showed up and we just got to talking. we eventually got to sharing the restoration. it was pretty cool. they didnt want to do much so we left after a while. we had to get to some other appointments too haha. We also had a great lesson with Gary and Nicole! they are the new family we found by our house! they are super prepared! they are married, which almost never happens here in Jamrock, and have a small child! we just told them our purpose and they accepted a return appointment. i cant wait to teach them tho! they even said that they wanted to feed us the next time that we came over! we can never deny that haha! then we went over to the McCalla house. Sherefah was looking down so we just answered a bunch of her questions. we covered a lot of stuff. we started out first talking about Kolob and singing the song, and somehow got our way into repentance. not really sure how that happened but whatever haha. her brother even came and plopped a seat when he saw what we were teaching. she had a lot of questions so we didnt end until like 9pm. so we were late getting home... but it was a good day and i loved it!

Wednesday 3-12-14
We had a way good zone meeting today! the zone leaders taught us that we should not teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in one lesson. we should never teach repentance until someone is showing forth their faith. it was a pretty interesting thing and its gonna change some things around here. to say the least, we have to repent to teach repentance haha. other than that it was a little bit of a slow day. when we went over to a less actives house, her daughter wanted me to tow her on my bike. we had to say no of course. we felt bad. she is like 3 years old haha. when we finally got away, she chased us up the street for like 200 yards! i felt bad but i couldnt do it. we then went over to Christinea's house in the night. she basically shared a thought with us. so it was a good day but a little slow in the teaching aspect.

Thursday 3-13-14
We went back to Gary and Nicole today. we taught them the restoration. they really loved it! gary said that everything made sense to him and he committed to read the Book of Mormon! he even wanted to have Joseph Smith History! first time that i have ever heard that on my mission! they are really interested! thank heaves for people who love Christ haha. they then fed us the best meal i have ever had down here! it was noodles, fish, and potatoes! it was so american! Nicole is a professional chef so that helps a lot! hopefully that can happen more often haha ;) we also went over to brother browns house for our missionary coordination meeting. we had a super good one with him. there were a lot of things that were talked about that we could do better, brought up by another missionary, and some assignments for the branch that we could use their help in. since ive been here those meetings have really improved. hopefully that can continue.

Friday 3-14-14
today i just felt really drained. i was kinda tired today. and also i was home-food sick. just kinda missing all of the McDonalds, wendys, subway, and coasta. one day i will have all of those again haha! they have wendys and subway in kingston so if i get transferred there someday then i know where i am going haha! we went over to see Everal today. he is an interesting guy. we think that he is a member of like 3 different churches, including ours. we went over today just to check up on him and share a short thought. like 30 minutes at the very max. well he talked. and talked, and talked, and talked. i think he went like 45 minutes without an interruption. Elder Norman and I have no idea what he said. we both just zoned out for the entire time. we answered when we needed to and it was in context. man it was just so long. we were there for like 70 minutes! but he is a good guy. not all there but still a great guy. we also went over to the Campbell family. they always have great discussions. 2 of the 3 kids there are gonna be baptized in like 2 weeks so we are working with them a bit too when we go over there. our lessons are normally split in 2. one half for the kids, the other for everyone. today we just kinda went over tithing and prophets. they understood it really well. i really cant wait for their baptism!

Saturday 3-15-14
So small fact of the day: janet, a lady that i was teaching in Port Antonio, got baptized with her 3 kids today! that made me super excited! they walk to church every week now! even in the rain! they are so converted and they love the gospel with all of their hearts! but we had a bit of a service day today. we normally try to make saturdays the day of service for the house. afterwards it started raining for a bit. its been raining here the past little while and its really weird. Spanish Town is normally pretty hot and dry. if its like this during the winter, then i can only imagine what rainy season next month is going to bring. hopefully not as bad as Porty haha. we had a lesson with Antonette about the Book of Mormon today. we just kinda went over what it was and why its used. she understood and said that she was going to read it. we also went back to the campbells tonight. we went over the baptism interview questions with 2 of the children. they didnt quite know who Thomas S. Monson was so we are gonna go over that later. but other than that they knew everything! one of them even knew more than we thought that he did. it was super cool to see. they should be baptized on the 29th. we also joined in on some home teaching today. we just walked in when someone was doing theirs haha. nakeitha also came with us. when we walked her home, there was a little bit of an argument there with something that happened earlier in the day. we just kinda got out of there. it involved us but we tried to get out asap!

Sunday 3-16-14
one thing that we did today was go over to Nakeithas and apologize for what we caused over at the house. we felt really bad. we never had any intentions to offend them. but everything is cool. now. during church today, someone sang in gospel principles. its really funny when people start to do that! its a normal thing down here i guess. we try to not let it happen tho. today we went over to the campbells house and explained who thomas s monson was. they understand it now haha. they can really pick up on things way fast. we also went to the mccallas. just a routine check up for them. they didnt show up to church today so we were a little worried. JD, the son, is way converted and knows a lot so it surprised us that they werent there. i guess that something in the family came up. we also went and met Monique, a member. she is way cool! she also kinda gave us a referral. she said that she really wants us to meet her friend. which of course means, hey can you teach my friend? i love when that happens haha :) i had never really met her before so we just kinda introduced me and all that. i love the members down here tho. they are super cool!

So thats my week. it was super good. elder norman and i are doing a ton of work! i have never been so tired on my mission until this transfer! the next 16 months are gonna be so awesome!

Week 28

Whagwan Everyone cause medaya!

this week has been pretty good. we went from 2 member present lessons each of the past 2 weeks to 6 this week! our RCLA numbers were a little down. but we still had a lot of less active members come back to church this week too! so in short... this week was awesome...

well thats the week... talk to you all next week

Love,
Elder Meacham

Haha just kidding. here is really how the week went ;)

Monday 3-3-14
So this week i didnt spend so much on food haha. last week i spent like 8000. this week i only spent 6500 haha. next week im gonna have to see what i can do to spend less. somehow i run out of all that food before the end of the week haha. i also finally got my bike fixed haha. so this week we were able to ride around instead of walking everywhere. really happy about that just so that everyone knows. i also had to go with the zone leaders to get the truck washed. we went up to a member who owns a car wash. she gave it to us for free, which was way nice, and then said that she wanted to talk to us. we talked to her and she basically told us about the struggles that she is going through right now and she really wants us to help out her son too. her son just came home from his mission. he should be going back out tho in 6 months. but she also said that she never really has a desire to go to church when he is not around. she has been baptized for like 4 months and he is on like a few years. she told us that she wants us to visit more often. i told her that we had no problem doing that haha. the problem is that she always misses every appointment cause she is always at work. we are gonna have to work on that haha. but thats what missionary work is all about. we also were fed by Nakeitha today. curry chicken is one of the best things down here and thats what they fed us! its super good! im sad that the US doesnt have curry ;( we also decided today that we were going to see if i could go one day without someone saying something along the lines of "white boy". i get that like everyday. its really funny but it gets annoying after awhile haha. we will see what happens tho.

Tuesday 3-4-14
So today was pretty interesting. most of the people we saw today were really old members who are less active. of course they are only less active because they are old and dont have a lot of money. other than that they are the sweetest people that i have ever met. we also went to a member, sister baldeo, and got a referral from her. we saw that the peron was walking out of her house so we started to go after her to contact her. well sister baldeo has some devil dogs, like they are really "the spawn of satan". they started to come after us so we got out fast. bad thing is, i wasnt far enough so they came pretty close to me. i picked up a hand full of rocks and they backed up a bit but then started coming for me again. i was backing up and throwing some rocks at them. they werent very happy about that. i was almost bit right in the ankle. but i got out of the gate in time haha. but they dont like me anymore. i almost wanna just take a machete and threaten them with that each time. i really dont like jamaican dogs haha. they are the only ones who i think have been so aggressive. but we went and contacted that person. they werent interested. so one rejection on the day. i also got some white boy comments today so a new start tomorrow haha.

Wednesday 3-5-14
Today was another great day! we had a great district meeting, as always. then, during the night, we had a lesson with Christinea, a less active member. we kinda sat there and talked for a bit. but once we were going to share the thought, she remembered that she left her scriptures at church the week before so she didnt have them. well right at that moment her neighbor came up and said "can i give you a present?" when she took the gift out from behind her back.... it was a Book Of Mormon. we kinda just sat there in awe. her neighbor is not a member just so you know. well we finished the thought with her and then went over to her neighbor. apparently they were taught by some missionaries a while ago cause thats how they got the BOM. we asked if we could come back another time and they said that next week would be good for us to come back. so we are defiantly going to be going back there haha. we then went over to the Campbells house, the recent converts who live right across the street from us. we went over there to teach their daughter, who is being baptized at the end of the month. we went with the Word of Wisdom. small note: the daughter is like 10 years old. well... her parents THREW DOWN on it. there is no way that kid is ever going to break that commandment! and if she does her parents will chew her out and rebuke her. they taught the entire thing. it was so cool! dont worry tho. it was super nice and the spirit was there the entire time! :D

Thursday 3-6-14
the first thing that we did today was go up the the carters house and do some service. we just raked some leaves out of their yard. we started to put them on the side of a small road next to their house to burn them. well the people down the road were really mad. they started to cuss us out. with jamaican cuss words. the difference between american swear words and jamaican ones are the fact that american ones are rude, but jamaican ones are very rude, disgusting, and insulting. lets just say that we heard almost every single one that there is. the spirit did not dwell in that place haha. but after that we had an ok day. we went over to the McCalla house to check up on them. sister McCalla, the less active i talked about from monday, was not there but we did talk to her daughters for a bit. they are really cool and crazy. they really remind me of kailey. i will get to that on friday haha. they are sad that their brother is home but they are happy at the same time. i have heard so much about their brother. apparently the entire branch just really looks up to him. to me, i see a future mission president in him.

Friday 3-7-14
so real fast, i have gotten white boy comments everyday this week. so funny haha. while contacting in the scheme we live in, i got another white boy comment. but this time it had a jamaican swear word in it. it was by far the worst thing that i had ever heard. i was a little offended. haha. but oh well. we also went back to the McCalla house, like sister McCalla asked. again she was not there. but we talked to Sherefah again. she is the one that reminds me of Kailey A LOT! she may only be 13, but she talks just as much haha. no joke, she went on for 30 minutes straight on how she had her foot run over by a car a couple years ago. no interruptions at all. really crazy. but i love the McCalla family cause they remind me of my family back home haha. while there also, we were standing in the back yard, it has a fence there, and i guess that someone looked over the fence. all of the sudden we hear this "white man angel" from behind it. we started laughing a bit. then we just hear "black man devil". man did that give me a good laugh. the look on Elder Normans face was pretty priceless too. for once i get a good comment down here haha. we also went back to the campbell family tonight. we took Nakeitha and her family to it as well. today we talked about the Law of Chastity with the Campbells for their daughter. well we kinda took the easy way out. we let the parents talk about it. it was easy for us haha. they werent really uncomfortable with it at all. funny quote from that, brother campbell asked his daughter if she understood and she said "ya. i looked it up on the internet". by far one of the funniest but weirdest things that i have heard out here haha.

Saturday 3-8-14
today started out bad and then turned really good. the morning hours for us always start out super bad. everybody is either at work, or doing their wash. we did see one member tho and had a pretty good lesson with her. after that a lot of stuff blew out. we had a short thought with an investigator. he went on about he shattered the law of chastity once. not really fun haha. then we saw his sister later in the day. she is really cool. her name is Antonette. she seems really sincere about everything. she always asks really good questions and says that she is learning a lot of new things. we have yet to give her a day but soon come on that. we also went back to the campbells. we always go there on fridays and saturdays. today we talked about keeping the Sabbath and Exaltation. The Exaltation part was way fun. the campbells ate the thing up. if any one can read about it the best place is in the Gospel Principles book. its way cool.

Sunday 3-9-14
Church was pretty packed today. it was the most people that i have ever seen in a church building in Jamaica! there were like 100 people there. we also had a new investigator come to church too. we are gonna try to get a lesson in with him this week. we went over and saw Matthew Cardoza, a former missionary here. Levi might know him. he was here in like 2007 or something. he has been a little less active and so we are trying to get him active again. we went and shared the atonement with him. it was a really good discussion. after that we had kinda an interesting day. everyone else blew out. we ended up talking to Nakeitha for a bit. we helped her out with some anxiety problems she is having with her relief society lesson she is teaching next week. she just gets a little nervous. everything will be great tho. she has that lesson in the bag.

SO that is now my week. in all.... i really love this week. my testimony was strengthened a lot and my consecration went way up too! i love the gospel and everything about it. these next 18 months or so are gonna be such a good time!

I ran out of time for pics so i will try to send them next week.

Love,
Elder Kurt Meacham
