Week 25

Whagwan!!

So i am now in spanish town! my comp of course is Elder Norman from Lindon. and i love it here. the people are so nice and everything! this area is going to be awesome to serve in for the next 6 weeks/months haha.

Monday 2-10-14

so today was kinda a different pday for me. since it was my last one in porty i got to choose what to do. i chose to just sit around and relax. everyone there is on a budget now since they have to taxi to ochi a lot. i didnt wanna waste elder davis' fare so i just said that we should sit around and relax. so thats what we did. the next couple of days are going to be just me going around to members asking them to sign my journal haha. not a lot of lessons but we will still try to get stuff done. sorry today is so short, i just decided to be a but haha

Tuesday 2-11-14

So today of course i went around and had a lot of the members sign my journal. it was pretty fun. a lot of members signed it. i guess that means that they like me haha. im gonna miss porty but im gonna really love spanish town at the same time. so at the end of the day we went to go see brother james. he was in the hospital cause he has some really bad diabetes. its so bad that just today he had to go get like 2 toes cut off. that is something that i hope i dont get. and dont worry i have cut WAY down on soda. im not sure how much of it i will be having this transfer. but ya we went up to see him at the end of the day and he had a lot of people checking up on him. he is one tough guy. the weirdest feeling of the day tho was when we went home. i started packing. it wasnt till then that i realized that i was leaving my home. i havent felt like that since i was in Miami haha. but i got all of my stuff packed up ready to go for tomorrow. well, most of my stuff. i ended up forgetting a couple of things in porty haha. ill get them later lol

Wednesday 2-12-14

So today was just super weird. Elder Mortenson came and picked me up from porty. he came in a car. that was an issue cause we had to take my bike too. somehow we fit that in the back seat tho. then we talked all the way to Kingston. man can that man talk haha. and most of it was about paint. hes not a boring guy but somehow he went on for like an hour on how paining is a super good way to make a quick buck. idk haha. then we picked up some elders at the office and went over to Burger King to eat. after transfers tho i actually threw up. something in the whopper just didnt like me a lot haha. but elder norman and i finally got to go out and teach. we got up to a members house, and i threw up again. we had to walk cause our bikes suck right now, so we just started to walk home. we decided to stop at another members house real fast. i felt like crap so we left and once we got about 30yds up the road, i threw up again. man it was the weirdest thing ever! we called the ZLs tho to pick us up and we called it a day. i got home and went straight to bed. but from what i can see the area is super flat! i love that cause that means that i wont be so tired biking now! heck ya! but there are a lot more dogs here. so stones are something i am starting to carry haha. or just a good kick to the face :). its weird being here right now but give me a few days and its gonna feel like home in no time.

Thursday 2-13-14

Today we had to take a greenie around. his trainer was in a meeting for the day so the mission stuck him with us for the day. he is a great kid tho. seems like he is really going to fit in fast here. most of the day was just us walking around in a scheme by the house to see where people live. the scheme is huge so its gonna take some getting used to haha. but the good news is that i didnt barf haha. so i think that im good. something in that whopper just didnt like me at all. but from everyone that we went and saw, the members are super cool! they get really involved in missionary work. i really think that i could get used to spending my time here :)

Friday 2-14-14

Today i spent contemplating on all the girls i have waiting for me back home. so it didnt take long to stop. i starting thinking, and then i was done haha. ive just heard that v-day on the mission is kinda boring. i accepted it and laughed haha. so we have a Recent Convert that always comes teaching with us. he name is Nakeitha. she was baptized like a month ago. everyone here really likes elder henderson, who i am replacing, so its gonna be hard to gain the trust of the members. but im up for the challenge! henderson is a great guy so i cant blame the members too much haha. most of our day was spent with me and elder norman going around to the members and introducing me to them. so far i really love the members. they are just really accepting and want to work with us. when the stake comes here in the spring they are gonna get some bonus point for the apostle that comes here to dedicate it haha

Saturday 2-15-14

today we tried to do some service. we ended up standing around. not really all that good haha. but once again we went around to the members houses and introduced me. a lot of the members who are less active tho really do want to come to church. most of them just really dont have the means to do so. less actives coming back to church i dont think is gonna be too hard to do. but cottage meetings actually happen here too. members love to invite their friends over so they can hear the gospel. that was something that never really got going in porty but down here it is in full force! we also went to a scheme called Whitewater today. man that is a rich boy place! we are hoping to get some investigators there. most of the people there have cars so getting to church for them isnt a big deal.

Sunday 2-16-14

today church was fantastic! they had me get up and introduce myself of course haha. but i could actually understand what was going on. up in porty i could never understand what the teacher for 3rd hour was saying. no one really could. he has no teeth. but down here everyone is capable of doing their jobs and they do them really well. after that we kinda just went around to members again and introduced me. sorry this letter is short compared. hopefully next week we have some other things happen haha

so thats what its like so far. the area is super flat, which i love. im living away from the town so its not loud and its away from all of the crime spots. honestly im just excited to be here. i know this gospel is true. i could look through every book there is and never find a reason why this church couldnt be true. the doctrine is pure and perfect. i cant wait to put it to the test when my calling is not a missionary. but ive got 18 months before that haha

Love,
Elder Kurt Meacham
